Playground Safety Mats UK – Impact-Absorbing Rubber Flooring
Our playground safety mats and playground flooring are designed to protect children from impact injuries while meeting the latest UK safety standards. At Express Matting, we supply rubber playground mats, impact-absorbing tiles, and safety surfaces for schools, nurseries, public parks, and private gardens across the UK.
Why Our Playground Safety Mats Meet UK Standards
All our playground safety surfaces are manufactured to absorb critical fall heights (CFH) in line with EN 1177 standards — the UK and European benchmark for playground impact-absorbing surfacing. Our rubber playground tiles and safety mats are available in thicknesses from 15mm to 50mm to provide the appropriate fall height protection for swings, climbing frames, and play equipment. Key features include impact energy absorption to reduce injury risk, slip-resistant surfaces that perform in wet and dry conditions, UV-stabilised rubber that withstands all UK weather, easy interlocking installation with no specialist tools, and suitability for ROSPA compliant play areas.
Rubber Playground Tiles
Our interlocking rubber playground tiles are the most popular choice for UK schools and play areas. Available in multiple thicknesses and colours, these safety tiles can be installed directly on grass, concrete, or tarmac surfaces. The interlocking design allows quick installation across large areas without adhesive.
Playground Flooring for Schools and Nurseries
We supply playground flooring to schools, nurseries, and local authorities throughout the UK. Our commercial-grade safety surfaces offer long-term durability and can be replaced tile-by-tile if damaged, making them a cost-effective solution for high-traffic play environments.
Wet Pour and Safety Surface Alternatives
For large-scale playground projects, our heavy-duty playground safety mats offer a practical alternative to wet-pour rubber surfaces. Easy to install and replace, they are ideal for school playgrounds, parks, and outdoor fitness areas.

Common questions
Is delivery free?
Yes. Delivery is free on every order to UK addresses, and orders are dispatched within 24 hours. If you're outside the UK, email sales@expressmatting.co.uk for a shipping quote before you order.
Can you cut it to size?
Many of our rolls are sold by the metre and cut to the length you choose. See cut lengths under 10m, or call 01744 520 110 about other sizes.
How do I choose the right thickness?
Thicker rubber absorbs heavier impacts. For free weights and racks, most customers choose 16–18mm tiles or mats; for cardio areas and workshops, 3–10mm rolls are usually enough. See our thickness guide and calculator.
