Gym Mat FAQs

Can I put rubber gym mats on carpet?

Yes, for light use. For heavy lifting, mats perform best on a firm, level floor such as concrete.

Do rubber gym mats smell?

New recycled rubber has a mild odour that fades within a few days in a ventilated room. Wiping with a mild soap solution speeds this up.

How do I clean rubber gym mats?

Sweep or vacuum, then mop with warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid oil-based or solvent cleaners.

Common questions

Is delivery free?

Yes. Delivery is free on every order to UK addresses, and orders are dispatched within 24 hours. If you're outside the UK, email sales@expressmatting.co.uk for a shipping quote before you order.

Can you cut it to size?

Many of our rolls are sold by the metre and cut to the length you choose. See cut lengths under 10m, or call 01744 520 110 about other sizes.

How do I choose the right thickness?

Thicker rubber absorbs heavier impacts. For free weights and racks, most customers choose 16–18mm tiles or mats; for cardio areas and workshops, 3–10mm rolls are usually enough. See our thickness guide and calculator.
